Gangaur Festival in KotaGangaur is one of the major festivals of Rajasthan. Thus even the city of Kota rejoices during this festival too. This festival is celebrated in the honour of Gauri, goddess and the companion of Lord Shiva. It is mainly a festival of women whether maiden or married. It is celebrated from the very next day after Holi and then onwards continues for eighteen long days.
This festival is unique as it is celebrated in different ways in different cities. In Bikaner, women both married as well as maiden observe a fast and wide variety of sweets. In the state capital Jaipur, 'ghewar' the well known sweet dish of Rajasthan is made especially during the time of this festival. People also some to distribute it among their close relations.
Dusshera Festival in KotaIn Kota Dusshera is celebrated with much pomp and grandeur as well as enthusiasm. Large effigies of Ravana, the demon king are burnt during this festival. To witness this grand event thousands of people gather in various localities of the city.
Chambal Adventure Sport Festival in KotaKota celebrates the Chambal Adventure sport festival every year.
This event is organized annually during February. Many professional
sports person from the civilian background as well as from the army participate in this event. This sports festival includes activities such as rafting, water skiing, parasailing, kayaking and wind surfing. Breathtaking performance by the participants leaves the spectators awestruck. The venue for this wonderful event is the river Chambal. Next to which the Kota is located.
Handicraft Mela in KotaKota also organizes a huge Handicraft Mela annually every December. Rajasthani paintings, unique tribal objet d'art from the region, handmade trinkets, colourful fabrics can be seen as well as bought during this grand affair.
Industrial Fair in KotaUsually early in the month February an Industrial fair is held in Kota. This fair provides a great opportunity for the local industries to showcase and market their products. Starting from cottage, small scale to the large industries everyone gets a chance display their merchandise. This industrial fair is very popular among the local masses.
